Gallery opening DJ · Vernissage · CopenhagenLet the work speak first.

At a vernissage people come for the art, the artist and each other. Music should sit in the background like good lighting: noticed only when it is missing.

We choose ambient, jazz-leaning, electronic or experimental selections that match the exhibition, keep the volume low while the curator or artist speaks, and let it open up a little once the room turns into a social evening.

Music that respects the walls.

  1. 01

    Chosen for the show

The artist or curator tells us about the work, and the selection follows the exhibition rather than a standard bar playlist.

  2. 02

    Room for the speech

We fade down for the opening words and the toast, then bring the music back without a jolt.

  3. 03

    Careful with the space

Equipment stays clear of works, plinths and walls, with cables taped down and nothing leaning on the exhibition.

  4. 04

    Small rooms, small setup

Many galleries are one or two white rooms. The speakers are sized for that, not for a club.

  5. 05

    Later in the evening

If the opening becomes a party after the formal hour, the set can warm up for the guests who stay on.

VernissagePOPUP SOUND

Pop-Up DJ fits most vernissages.

A typical opening lasts around two hours, which matches Pop-Up DJ: a professional DJ, controller, a sound system sized for the room, setup and removal, for DKK 3,500 excluding VAT.

Want the artist, the guests and the hang documented? Sound & Stories pairs a three-hour set with two hours of photography for DKK 9,500.

Gallery opening DJ — FAQ

Is a DJ too much for a gallery?

Not if the volume and the music are right. For most of the evening the set stays in the background. Think of it as a curated soundscape for the opening rather than a party, unless you want it to become one later.

Can the music relate to the artist’s work?

Yes. Share the exhibition text, the artist’s references or a few images, and we propose a direction in the quote. Some artists also send a playlist they work to, which is a good starting point.

Do you play at open studios and art launches too?

Yes. Open studios, artist-run spaces, design shops with an exhibition and corporate art launches all work. The same care with space and volume applies wherever the work hangs.

What does a vernissage DJ cost?

The usual choice, Pop-Up DJ, is priced at DKK 3,500 plus VAT and runs for a maximum of two hours. Prices for every package are on packages & pricing, and you get a written quote before the booking is confirmed.
