Networking reception DJ · CopenhagenMusic that lets people talk.

At a reception, the guests are the programme. Our job is to fill the gaps between introductions without ever making anyone raise their voice.

Volume and tempo follow the size of the crowd: softer while thirty people arrive from a seminar, fuller once two hundred stand shoulder to shoulder with a glass. Speakers are placed so the loudest point is never next to the busiest huddles.

Built around conversation.

  1. 01

    Conversation-level volume

We keep the level low enough that two colleagues standing close can chat comfortably, and check it by walking the room.

  2. 02

    Spread-out speakers

Instead of one loud corner, sound is placed so the bar and the entrance stay easy places to meet someone new.

  3. 03

    Welcomes and toasts

A short welcome from the host or a partner gets a clean fade and, if agreed in advance, a microphone.

  4. 04

    Instrumental first hour

Lyrics compete with talking, so early on we lean towards instrumental house, jazz and soul.

  5. 05

    A gentle finish

When the reception should wind down, the music signals it softly instead of the lights suddenly coming on.

Networking reception DJ — FAQ

Will music make networking harder?

Not when it is set correctly. We keep the volume below speaking level, avoid busy vocals in the first hour and adjust as the room fills. If guests start leaning in to hear each other, that is our cue to bring it down.

Can you play after a conference or seminar?

Yes. Many receptions follow a day of talks in the same building, so we can set up during the final session and start as the doors open. For sound during the talks themselves, see our conference sound page.

What do you need to know about the guests?

Roughly how many are coming, whether they mostly know each other, the industry and the mood you are after — formal, relaxed or in between. An international audience and a local crowd often respond to quite different music.

Can you provide a microphone for the welcome?

Yes, a microphone for short speeches can be part of the agreed setup. Tell us how many people will speak and roughly when, so we can plan the fades and keep your programme on time.
